The Present

What do we offer?

The club has a very active Obedience section. We offer all levels of training from our Puppy Socialisation Courses and Basic Obedience Training Courses, which are available to the general public, right through to competition level training forObedience Training members.

Whilst we do like to encourage anyone interested in ultimately competing in outside obedience shows, we welcome all members whatever their intentions or potential.

Our policy as a dog training club is to first and foremost offer a service to the general public and their dogs. Dog ownership is all about responsibility, not only to society but to your dog too. A well behaved, well trained dog is a pleasure to have around and a welcome member of society. Our basic training course is structured to achieve this in time and with a certain amount of effort on behalf of the owners.

If after attending our Puppy Socialisation Course and / or
Basic Training Obedience Course
you feel you would like to go on further with your obedience training we can offer this too.

A full list of our classes and courses are as follows:

Puppy Socialisation
Course -

a five week course covering all aspects of puppy socialisation including a visit from a veterinary nurse from Elands Veterinary Clinic.

Courses run on a Monday morning.

Basic Obedience Training
Course
-

a seven week course covering all the basic dog training techniques. Courses offered on a Monday morning and Thursday evening.

'Stepping Stones' Course-

this follows on from the Basic Obedience Training Course.

It primarily works towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award. However it also builds on the techniques learnt during the Basic Obedience Course as well as dealing with any specific training problems course members encounter.

It also acts as a 'stepping stone' onto the more challenging obedience techniques encountered should handlers wish to continue further with their dog training.

Intermediate Class -

this class starts to introduce and build on some of the more advanced obedience techniques with competition work in mind.

Advanced Class -

this class is made up of those who intend to compete or those who would just like to achieve the most from their dog, offering him / her a challenge and a real chance to recognise his / her potential.
